What a great list!!! What you should read depends on what kind of books you like.
Adventure: Robert Louis Stevenson–”Kidnapped” (one of my very favorites)
Mystery: Arthur Conan Doyle–any Sherlock Holmes
Fantasy: C.S. Lewis or George MacDonald
Romance: Jane Austen–any of them. I like “Persuasion” but most people go for “Pride & Prejudice” or “Emma”
Poetry: T.S. Eliot–”Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats”
Atmospheric American: Mark Twain–any; Louisa May Alcott–”Little Women” (this one is pretty long)
If you really want to impress your teacher and pick something no one else will read, choose Herman Melville or John Milton.
I’d have a really hard time choosing from this list, there are so many great books you could read.
