why is the da vinci code such a great book?

i need information for a essay on why the da vinci code by dan brown is a great book…
i understand the whole religious aspect of it, but are there any other reasons, like moral lessons typa thing?

The Da Vinci Code kind of woke up a sleepy publishing industry and caught it by surprise. It generated so much discussion – pro and con that it got so much free publicity it couldn’t help but succeed. It is the first book I can think of in a very long time that generated that much chatter among people. The last one I can really think of was The Exorcist back in the 80’s. Everybody was talking about it. That is what makes a book a runaway best seller. People may have disagreed with it, but they were still talking about it and buying it and reading it. That kind of phenomenon doesn’t happen often in the publishing business where a book stays on top of the charts for that long. Pax-C
